It is the second stanza from “Suzanne” by Leonard Cohen, as sung by Judy Collins that always catches me up. Mr. Cohen is a Canadian songwriter and poet. He is Jewish and attracted to Buddhism. In my opinion Mr. Cohen catches more of the meaning of the crucified and risen Jesus than some Christians do! This also nicely comments on Jesus saving Peter from the depths…more than once!
In this Season of Life, the Life of all the living, Christ Jesus, this commercial is a good reminder of life. Catholic Vote produced it for airing in 2008 for both the Superbowl and during President Obama’s Inauguration: CNN and NBC would not air it:
This video is by Rev. Jonathan Fisk, a LCMS pastor in Philadelphia (the link to his video blog, Worldview Everlasting, listed in the blogroll, right hand column), on the charismatic movement in a college setting. It works for any setting to keep us close to the grace of God in Jesus Christ, not the legalisms of the false doctrines of the charismatic denominations:
My wife reminded me of this video below this past weekend. Penn and Teller are a combination of illusion and comedy. Teller on the right is a mime. Penn Jillette is the big guy on the left. He is an atheist. In this vid, he describes receiving a copy of the Psalms after one of his shows. It is sharp look at the importance of evangelism from the outlook of an outsider to the Church:
It is sad enough that the gender inclusiveness is undermining the family, but it can also be satirized and ridiculed: watch the Monty Python gang do so:
This video is an ad from Concordia Publishing House!
Warning: this video is not really “must see vid” but “must flee vid” but it’s a hoot! This is Gnostic to the core: Gnosticism.
